🛡️ Safety Center
At ShareMyRide, your safety is our highest priority. The platform is designed exclusively for verified college students to provide a safer and more trustworthy ride-sharing experience. This page covers how to ride safely, verify who you're travelling with, what to do in an emergency, and the community standards we expect from everyone on the platform.
🚗 Ride Safely
- ✔ Verify the driver's or passenger's details before starting the ride.
- ✔ Meet only at public and well-lit locations, ideally on or near campus.
- ✔ Inform a friend or family member about your trip — share who you're riding with and your expected arrival time.
- ✔ Follow all traffic rules and wear a helmet whenever required.
- ✔ Keep your phone charged and location services on during the ride.
- ✔ Trust your instincts — if something feels off, don't proceed with the ride.
- ✔ Be respectful and maintain a friendly environment.
✅ Verify Users
Every ShareMyRide account is verified with a college email address before it's activated, so everyone on the platform is a real, currently-enrolled student. That said, a verified email is a starting point, not a substitute for your own judgement:
- ✔ Check the driver's or passenger's name, college, and rating on the ride card before booking.
- ✔ Once a booking is Accepted, use in-app Chat to confirm pickup details directly — this also gives you a written record of the conversation.
- ✔ A driver's phone number is only shared with you after a booking is Accepted, precisely so you can do a final check before the ride.
- ✔ If anything about a profile or conversation seems inconsistent or suspicious, use the Report button before proceeding, and consider Blocking that user.
🚨 Emergency Tips
- ✔ If you ever feel unsafe, end the ride and get to a public place immediately.
- ✔ In India, dial 112 for the national Emergency Response Number, 100 for Police, or 1091 for the Women's Helpline.
- ✔ Share your live location with a trusted contact for the duration of the ride.
- ✔ After the ride, report any unsafe, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour through the Report feature so our team can review it.
- ✔ ShareMyRide does not tolerate harassment, abuse, or unsafe behavior of any kind.
🤝 Community Guidelines
Everyone on ShareMyRide is expected to:
- ✔ Treat other students with respect, honesty, and courtesy.
- ✔ Provide accurate information — genuine ride details, real identity, honest ratings.
- ✔ Show up on time, or communicate promptly if plans change or a ride needs to be cancelled.
- ✔ Never use ShareMyRide for harassment, discrimination, solicitation, or any illegal activity.
- ✔ Use the Report and Block tools when needed — they exist to keep this a safe, trusted, student-only community, not just for extreme situations.
Violating these guidelines can result in account suspension or permanent removal from the platform. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
Together, we can build a safe, reliable, and trusted student community.
